Overview:

The Montreal Airport, Montreal's Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport was named after a popular Canadian Prime Minister who served from 1968 to 1984 with only a brief interruption.

The Montreal Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport (formerly the Dorval Airport) handles flights from all over the world while the Mirabel Airport handles cargo flights only.

If flying to Montreal from any American destination you will arrive and depart from here as regular (not counting seasonal) flights here arrive from 24 US destinations.

Accessing the Montreal Airport:

The Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport is a thirty-five minute cab ride from downtown Montreal in moderate traffic but that time can greatly increase if you're arriving in rush hour.

Cabs are freguent, available at all hours and are reasonable. There is a bus/shuttle service to downtown as well as to the Montreal metro (subway) system.

There is also a direct connection between the airport and Mont Tremblant for ski fans from mid December to mid April. Call 1.800.471.1155. Via Rail operates a mini bus to the Dorval train station (a little over a mile away) 20 minutes outside downtown Montreal.

L’Aerobus Shuttle :

The L’Aerobus Shuttle runs between the Montreal–Trudeau Airport and downtown Montreal on the half hour in both directions after 9 a.m. and before 9 p.m. Outside these times, it departs on the top of the hour in both directions.

In Montreal, the bus stops downtown at the Central Bus Station (505 de Maisonneuve Blvd. E at the Berri-UQAM metro station). From here, a free mini bus runs to several major downtown hotels, 24 hours (514.631.1856).

Tickets are available at arrivals level or at the Central Bus Station for $15.00 one way or $25.00 return for the 45-minute trip (adult fares). Call 514.842.2281 for more info.

Bus Service to Major Cities:

The provincial bus line, Orleans Express, offers return service between Montreal–Trudeau and Quebec city (3.5-4 hours) and Trois-Rivieres. Tickets are available at international arrivals. The bus runs all week with several daily departures from 11 a.m.

Service to Ottawa/Gatineau (two hours away) is provided by Greyhound and tickets can be bought on the bus at the passenger drop off area on the international arrivals level. Again, service starts at 11 a.m. with several departures seven days a week. Call 1.800.661.8747.

For other destinations, take L’Aerobus to Montreal's Central Bus Station.
