Camping in Quebec: Huttopia Tent

Photo: Sepaq, Quebec

Camping in Quebec just got a little easier thanks to Huttopia tents. Named for the European manufacturer, 60 Huttopia tents will be added to the 37 tent-trailers already in place in Quebec's 13 national parks starting June 20, 2008. Within three years, there will be 150 of these luxury tents in place.

The new tents are ideal for campers looking for more comfort and a simpler camping trip. But the tents don't come cheap. This summer they go for $99.00 per night for two adults and children under 18.

The tents consist of a 13 x 23 - foot wooden platform and canvas walls, roof and canopy. A canvas curtain separates the two rooms. The tents come fully furnished and equipped, including gas or electrical heating - perfect for campers who prefer the less crowded spring and fall seasons. Washrooms will be located near the sites.

All of the wooden structures are manufactured in Québec using locally produced cedar according to sustainable development guidelines.
