March Events in Montreal include block buster art shows continuing throughout the spring as well as special exhibits for kids.

1. Van Dongen - A Fauve in the City

Until April 19, 2009 the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts hosts the first major North American retrospective of Kees Van Dongen (1877-1968). "Riots of light, heat and colour," place him with modernist contemporaries, Matisse and Picasso. The show contains over 200 works, including paintings, rare drawings, photographs and Fauvist ceramics.

2. REPLAY at the DHC/ART Foundation for Contemporary Art

Until March 29, 2009 visit the DHC/ART Foundation for Contemporary Art to see the North American premiere of Christian Marclay’s dramatic sound and visual projections. One elaborate piece features hundreds of clips from Hollywood films of actors making sounds and/or playing instuments. Best described in Interview Magazine as “Music like you’ve never seen before and art like you’ve never heard before”.

3. The Quest for Galactium

2009 is the year of astronomy and until May 10, 2009 all ages will enjoy the Planetarium's latest exhibit featuring galaxy explorations and adventures.

4. The Arctic: Walking on Thin Ice

As if there hasn't been enough reminders of winter already until April 30, 2009 the Montreal Biodome's most recent exhibition celebrates the year of polar. The outdoor spectacle features 40 giant photographs of the Canadian Arctic. The Photos are to be found from Jean Drapeau metro station all the way to the Biosphere. For more info call 514.283.5000

5. Plan Large - Photography

Until October 4, 2009 catch another outdoor photo exhibit. Elena Willis' lit billboards of photographic images of people caught up in a fatalistic situation can be found throughout the city. For more information on this show of contemporary photography call 514.392.1554.

6. Snowshoeing by the Light of the City

Until March 14, 2009 take part in guided evening walks around Mount Royal trails from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Depart from the Smith House, reservations and a $15.00 fee required. Call 514.843.8240

7. Draco, The Celestial Dragon

Until May 10, 2009 kids won't want to miss Draco who seeks his treasure among the major constellations seen at the Planetarium.

8. Norman Bethune - Trail of solidarity

Until November, 2009 explore Bethune's historical travels throughout Spain at the McCord Museum of Canadian History.

9. Costa Rica, Land of Wonders

Until April 19, 2009 see over 230 artifacts in gold, stone and jade from Costa Rica at the Pointe-a-Calliere, Museum of Archaeology and History to trace 2000 years of history never before seen in Canada.

10. Montreal Canadiens Hockey Home Games
