Even though the official day is January 26th this year, a Chinese New Year in Montreal celebration will take place at Pierrefonds Comprehensive High School. The party is sponsored by the West Island Chinese Service and Cultural Centre and takes place on January 17th starting at 2 p.m.

Chinese folk songs, dances, traditional Chinese instruments, pieces from the Peking and Sichuan Operas and Martial Arts will all be featured.

Special performances by The West Island Youth Symphony Orchestra and Salinggawi Philippine Folk Arts organization will round out the show.

On January 16 at 8 p.m., January 17, at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and on January 18, at 2:30 p.m. check out the downtown celebrations at Place des Arts (175 Ste.
