1. Ste. Rose Golf Course
The Ste. Rose Golf Course is located in the historic and picturesque Ste. Rose district of Laval, only 30 minutes from downtown Montreal.
Because accuracy is a major requirement of play, the Ste. Rose Golf Course is referred to as a target course. Water seems to appear out of nowhere to swallow errant shots. The short holes look deceptively easy but bring plenty of balls unless your aim is exceptionally good.
Despite the potential for many lost balls, this scenic course, dotted with wetlands is a joy to play. Be sure to save time for the 19th hole as the beautiful grounds make a wonderful outdoor bar.
2. Le Sorcier Golf Course
A little over an hour from Montreal finds the challenging, yet fun Le Sorcier (witch) Golf Course. Carts are mandatory on the 320 acres of hilly, mature forest that's interspersed with meandering streams.
14 elevated tees from 20 to 100 feet provide excellent views of the nearby Gatineau hills. While the holes are mostly short, the varied scenery adds to the enjoyment. Strategically placed rock and fauna formations, not to mention the signature "sorcier tree" potentially come into play on many of the holes.
3. Le Geant Golf Course
Within 90 minutes of Montreal, visitors will find Le Geant Golf Course. Le Geant was designed by Canadian, Thomas Mc Broom and opened in 1995. The course appears in Score Golf Magazine's best 100 list and helps make Mont Tremblant an all season destination.
This par 72, 6800 yard course may be less challenging than Diable but the scenery is more dramatic adding to its greater attraction for more golfers. The signature 18th hole was voted best par 4 in Canada by Score Golf.
4. Le Diable Golf Course
Next door to Le Geant, sits Le Diable, designed by M. Hurdzan and D. Fry and opened in 1998. This course also appears on Score Golf's best 100 list. Due to the unusually large waste areas which resemble enlarged sand bunkers, the course is perhaps the more challenging of the two.
Golf Digest awarded Le Diable 4.5 stars for it's challenging narrow fairways and signature long red sand bunkers. The 7000 yard plus par 71 course was voted best public course in Quebec by Score Golf.
