The Bottom Line

Le Grand Lodge Mont Tremblant makes a great getaway as it is less than two hours from Montreal in the beautiful Laurentian mountains on the quiet Lake Ouimet.

The lodge is particularly well suited for families as it is situated on a supervised sandy beach and use of all water craft are included as are most activities. Summer mid week is the best time to visit. Ask for a lakefront suite.

Guide Review - Le Grand Lodge Mont Tremblant

Le Grand Lodge Mont Tremblant is a year round resort and conference center perfectly situated to take advantage of summer golf and water activities and winter cross country and downhill skiing and snowboarding.

Part of the prestigious Hotellerie Champetre group, the lodge features fine dining in the expansive yet cozy Chez Borivage dining room with fantastic lake views. After 9 p.m. the same menu can be had in the adjacent Whiskey Bar.

Best bets include stuffed veal and a flank steak served with a rich fois gras and cappuccino sauce. The popular breakfast buffet with made to order omelets, pancakes and french toast attracts locals and guests from other area hotels.

The property also includes an art barn where guests are always welcome to watch the sculptors and painters at work and check out the rotating exhibits. Behind the barn is a "poetry walk" where poems are nailed to trees that form scenic walking trails.
